Mounting Photos On Foam Board
Mounting photos on foam board is a popular, fairly inexpensive way for people to professionally enlarge and display their own digital photos. The advantage over other mediums such as acrylic/plexiglass and aluminum is the weight and the cost. The disadvantage is that the material likely won’t hold up as long particularly because the corners are prone to damage especially if you’re having to move them quite a bit.
At BumbleJax.com we print your image in sizes up to 40″ x 30″ on a large format hp designjet printer. The print is then sent through a laminator which applies pressure sensitive adhesive to the back of the print and a satin laminate to the front, to help preserve the image.
Now it’s time to begin photo mounting to the foam board. About 3 inches of the adhesive backing is pulled back and the image is applied to the Gatorfoam to get it started. We then run it back through the laminator to finished applying the adhesive in a uniform way. Once the excess of the image is trimmed up, we’re ready to ship!
