Acrylic Photo Mounting

Acrylic (plexiglass) photo mounting is perhaps the most popular of the modern photo mounting techniques and is increasingly popular with photographers for showing off their work in galleries or shows.  With the acrylic adding an almost 3 dimensional effect along with enhancing the colors of the print, it’s a great way to give that photo the “head turning” oomph to really get it noticed.  At we work with many photographers who use our acrylic photo mounting services and quite a few of them have been able to increase the value of their photos in order to see at a higher price.

Acrylic photo mounting is definitely the most labor intensive mounting process and not recommended for most DIY’s especially at the larger sizes.  In fact, at BumbleJax we are reluctant to take on custom projects at very large sizes (over 12 sq ft) because of the difficulty in getting a perfect print.  Should anything go wrong it takes hours to remove the print and begin anew.  If you’re not looking for a huge size, acrylic is definitely the way to go for the wow factor.  Have a look at the video below to get an idea of how we go about the acrylic photo mounting process.

We’d love to do an acrylic photo mount for you today!  Come on over to BumbleJax and let us know what we can do for you.  We offer custom sizes and volume discounts.. oh and top notch service 🙂

Looking for my images to be mounted on acrylic. I have sizes of 4″ x4″ and 8″ x 10″ and depending on cost 24″ x 30″ and 30″x36″. If I can ge some priceing for 25 to 100 range that would be great.

I’m an architect and our office had dozens of project photos professionally mounted on acrylic, when our office moved a year ago all those were left to be trashed and I saved about a dozen of them with stainless mounting bolts thinking to reuse them for posters later. How can I remove those photos? I tried to soak one in my bathtub with hot water and couldn’t get any part lose! I was able to peel off from one corner and tried to roll it off but the adhesive is so strong I could only roll about 12″!

Is there a solution to dismount the photos? I hate to trash those good quality acrylics. Thanks.

Here is my situation..I need to mount an aluminum z-bar to 1/4 acrylic for a wall mount. The aluminum must be behind the image for an invisible mounting system. I cannot drill into the acrylic, so I need to find an adhesive that will secure the z-bar to the acrylic. Basically, what should I use to ‘glue’ a thin strip of aluminum to acrylic without damaging the acrylic? My boss suggested using siliconeand that won’t work. And I’m afraid certain epoxys may damage the image printed on the back of the acylic. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!
